Congress, BJP, & CPM Stand on Meghalaya, Nagaland, & Tripura Assembly Election 2018

The Election Commission of India declared the time table for elections to the Assembly states of Meghalaya, Tripura & Nagaland. The 3 states consisting sixty member Houses each are among 8 states to have polling this year. The period of the Meghalaya, Tripura and Nagaland Assemblies gets expired on 6th, 13th, and 14th March 2018 respectively. While the State elections to Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan are yet to be conducted this year.
The model code of conduct is effective up on the Election Commission releasing the dates for the three states. The press conference is forecasted to started at noon today.

The Tripura polling schedule
- The notifying date of gazette of tripura election is January 24, 2018
- The final date to make nomination of the candidates for tripura poll 2018 is January 31
- The nomination will be scrutinised on 1.2.2018
- The due date to withdraw candidates is February 3, 2018
- The polling date is by 18.2.2018
- The vote counting is 3.3.2018
The election schedule of Meghalaya and Nagaland state are as under:
- The nagaland date of gazette issue is January 31, 2018
- The Last date to nominate candidate is 7.2.2018
- The nominee scrutiny is February 8, 2018
- The due date of withdrawal of candidature is 12.2.2018
- The Date of polling for nagaland and meghalaya state is February 27, 2018
- The meghalaya and tripura vote counting to be held on March 3, 2018.
There will be 2 rounds of election to the 3 states with Tripura casted on February 18, 2017, which is also a Sunday. Meghalaya & Nagaland will exercise its election on 27th February 2018 on Tuesday. The vote counting for all the three provinces will be organized on March 3, 2018. The results will be published on the same day.
VVPATs & EVMs will be utilized in the 3 states as like it is used for twenty years in these three states. For the first time VVPATs is to be deployed for the Assembly polls.
Chief Election Commissioner AK Joti has started addressing a press conference to publish the dates. As the dates goes informed, the Model Code of Conduct comes into impact in the three states.
The voters’ list was recently released for the state of Meghalaya, displaying female voters outshining men. Women count up to 50.4% of the registered voters. There are about 18,30,104 electorates, out of which 9,23,848 are women. There is no third gender voters. Meghalaya has a population of 3.2 mn people with literacy rate of 74.4%.
The dates for the elections are seemed to be declared soon in a press conference.
In Nagaland, the Naga People’s Front is at the helm of the sixty-member Nagaland Assembly. The BJP picked 4 seats whereas the JD(U) gathered 1 in the previous election in 2013.
Party president Amit Shah had stated, “The situation in Tripura has climbed from bad to worse in the last twenty five years of Communist bad rule. The Communists have unleashed poverty & unemployment, whenever and wherever they took control. The people of the tripura state are desperately waiting for alteration and want growth, which can be given only by a BJP govt.”
The Tripura Assembly comprising 60-member is managed the CPI(M) government. The BJP & Congress will see to consolidate their stand in the House, with presently just 7 and 2 seats respectively.
The Meghalaya House, which too includes sixty seats, is presently chaired by a Congress govt. which had achieved twenty seats in the 2013 legislative Assy. election. Meghalaya is one among the only 5 states now ruled by the Congress, having this election significant for the party to win.
The election schedule for the states of Meghalaya, Mizoram & Nagaland are being declared initially as their Assemblies go expire in the month of March. The tenure of the Karnataka Assembly ceases in the month May, Mizoram in December month and Chattisgarh, Rajasthan & Madhya Pradesh in Jan 2019.
The ECI is anticipated to release the election date to 3 states today. Of the 8 states getting to election this year 2018, the Houses of Meghalaya, Tripura & Nagaland going expired in March.
