Due to the Cyclone Phailin about 250,000 Villagers on the coastal areas had fled their homes and evacuated to Schools in the north of the state.
The Cyclone Phailin warning had been issued for the 3 districts of Andhra Pradesh state and 5 districts of Orissa state in India.
As per the report from the Indian Meteorological Department IMD Cyclone Phailin would hit between Kalingapatnam District located in Andhra Pradesh and the port of Paradip in Odisha state.
Apart from Orissa and Andhra Pradesh the Cyclone Phailin warning had been issued to Thailand, Myanmar, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and West Bengal.
The name Phailin refer the last of the 1st set of 32 names for tropical cyclones in the North Indian Ocean.

The Orissa State Government had issued a high alert to the districts like Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati.

The Andhra Pradesh state Government had issued a high alret to 6 districts of the Andhra Pradesh state.
The State Government of Andhra Pradesh and Orissa had stocked up the food and relief materials at storm shelters.
The Cyclone Phailin latest news update as on 12th October 2013 is located at 17.5°N, 86.5°E which is about 310 KM SSE of Paradip in Orissa state, about 260 KM SE of Gopalpur in Orissa state and about 270 KM ESE of Kalingapatnam of Andhra Pradesh state.
Due to the Cyclone Phailin the Winds moves 15 kilometer per hour(130 mph) and 260 kilometer per hour (160 mph).
